How long has this service been running and who is it for?
The service was created in 2011 in the Czech Republic. It is an online forum where the users can share their experience with phone numbers, both annoying (mostly telemarketing, surveys) and useful (e.g. couriers, offices)..
Since the beginning, the service has been received very well, which led to localization into more languages. Nowadays, the forum exists in more than 20 languages and 34 countries throughout the world.
The service is intended for anyone who wants to identify the owner of an unknown phone number. The creators of the forum have also recently created the mobile app Call Insider for Android phones. This app, which is connected to the database of the website numberlookup.com.au, also allows users to automatically block telemarketing numbers.
We may have entered the digital age, but the telephone remains a key weapon in scammers' arsenals. The Federal Trade Commission (FTC) received about 1.8 million fraud complaints in 2021 in which a contact method was identified, and in 36 percent of cases a call was the swindler’s way in.
I groggily answered the ringing phone at 6am, and was alarmed to hear an official-sounding robotic voice. “This is the alert system with Visa (or Mastercard) account services!” It went on to tell me that there were two suspicious charges to my Visa card.
Some skin scammer called from this number then can be heard just breathing into the mic on a voice mail left from a call centre somewhere in street shitter land, they never spoke but I could smell the curry on their breathe through the phone

claimed to be from RCS international in Hong Kong. I told her that I would record the call then started recording. She went on about confirming details with me, but never got around to asking me personal questions. The only questions she asked before giving up on me, were "would you be interested in investing in art and whisky", then "why wouldn't you invest in art or whisky"
